  • Termite mounds and towers are made of soil and saliva, making the walls as hard as concrete. They have a chimney, bedrooms, food storage pantries, fungus gardens, nurseries, a royal chamber, and even a natural cooling system (free air conditioning!). Some towers are as tall as a giraffe and can take up to 50 years to build!

  • Trees, both living and dead, provide homes for a variety of creatures. Almost everyone knows that birds and squirrels live in trees while the trees are alive and standing, but do you know what animals can live in a rotting log?

  • Not all bird nests look like a bowl made out of grass and twigs. Some nests have sloping roofs, some hang from tree limbs, and some even have hidden rooms.
