| The Museum
has so many objects in its collection that it can't show everything at once. In order to
let you see as much of the collection as possible, the curators change the objects on
display every so often. Some objects, like those made of cloth or paper, can be
displayed for only a limited time, because they are fragile and can be hurt by too much
light. Other things may not be on display because they are on loan to other museums, or
getting repaired.
Some objects in the collection are never displayed at all. They are part of special
research collections, set aside for scholars to study. On this Web site, you can check the
information next to the object to see if it is part of a special collection. |
