Bibliography/Webliography Back to Structures Home Page
When the Brooklyn Bridge was built, it was the largest and most difficult feat of engineering that had ever been attempted. Some people doubted that it could be done at all. It took 14 years to build - and an enormous amount of planning by its engineers and the hard work of thousands of people. Above all, the engineers wanted to be sure that the bridge was safe and strong enough to last hundreds of years.
