This beautifully illustrated book traces the history of the quetzal bird of the Central American cloud forest. This fantastic green plumed bird may have inspired tales of the god Quetzalcoatl, or Feathered Serpent.

Evan, a fifth-grader at P.S. 321 in Brooklyn says, "The book had many facts, and the pictures are heavenly! I learned what the bird looks like when it's flying."

Quetzalcoatl was a powerful god in the Mayan and Aztec traditions. His name is pronounced "kwet-zal-kote-l".
