Dorothy Hinshaw Patent has a doctorate in zoology and studies the relationships between
animals and people. She is the author of over 90 books and has received many awards, including the Eva
L. Gordon Award for Children's Science Literature and the Golden Kite Award from the Society of
Children's Book Writers.
