Through a series of striking, colorful photographs, the author takes us into the life of Leo, a six-year-old Zapotec boy. Leo's family weaves tapetes, the woven rugs and wall- hangings for which his village is famous throughout Mexico.

Madeline, a fifth-grade student from P.S. 321 says, "This book's best quality is how it describes everything, and the pictures are wonderful. They show everyday things that you never notice."

Leo's family does not have a toilet or running water in their house, but they do have a refrigerator, color TV and VCR! They are interested in the world around them, but remain loyal and devoted to their family, community, and culture.
