Marimba Dolls, Guatemala
These dolls are shown playing a marimba, which is a percussion instrument. It is made up of bars that
sit on a frame. Underneath each bar is a metal tube, called a "resonator." The music comes from these
resonators, when the bars above are hit with a soft mallet. Marimbas are long enough for several
people to play at once.

Pan pipes
Pan pipes are traditionally an Incan instrument. They are made by lashing together several pipes of
different lengths, and sealing the bottoms. You make the sound by blowing across the tops of the
pipes.
